COVID-19: THIS IS WHAT WE ARE DOING AND THINKING

Dear readers,

By now, we all know that the new buzzword on the street is COVID-19. The sad reality is that our fears are spreading way faster than the actual illness. Amidst of everything that’s happening around us, our concern is to make sure our employees, customers and vendors are safe and sound. We feel great responsibility to help our community and we have sincere gratitude to each and every doctor, nurse and the rest of the medical team working overtime during this condition all over the world. Here we would like to share our latest updates during this ongoing global crisis:

Employees:

Our employees are the powerhouse of the business and therefore their safety is our utmost priority now. We are practising remote working till the situation cools down and till we have official confirmation from the state board that it's safe to commute. We confirmed if everyone’s contact details and emergency contact details are up-to-date in our systems. For any travel or meetings that are lined up, we are considering if it can be held remotely instead. We are also updating everyone in the organisation with the latest coronavirus advice from the Central/State Government. Just like our employees, their families also matter to us hence if an employee needs some time off work to look after someone, we are providing them full support from our side.

Community:

Since 2016 our vision has been to keep our customers happy. To continue this objective, we are fully functioning our online shopping services and our stocks are in place. We are still taking orders and will continue to deliver them. So apart from Muse Hybrid Smartwatches, we have started selling a COVID19 Essentials Kit on our website. As most of the stores are running out of the basic Covid necessities, in order to bridge this gap, Muse has decided to start delivering an essentials kit which will include  face masks, sanitizers, wipes, thermometer and gloves. This way we meet the requirements of our community and keep them safe. To know more about our Covid19 Essential Kit click here.

Our thoughts?

Like mentioned earlier, fear is spreading more violently than the illness hence we would like to take this occasion to spread positivity and some food for thought.

Yes, the current situation is a challenge; but it is also an opportunity, an opportunity to understand how deeply we humans are connected which is why practising ‘social distancing’ has been a trouble for most of us. We can take this time off to be closer  to our family and spend quality time with them. We all deserve some time for personal care like picking a new hobby, finishing that book you were reading or even trying to do some yoga. Our lives are not going to be the same again once this settles down. We are not going to take things for granted. We will have second thoughts on travelling somewhere, as working remotely will become far more common, aided by better technology. The public health systems will look for more advanced medical measures to face such threats, hospitals will be exceptionally improved.

Let's look back at what Robert Frost quoted in his Ode, ‘If winter comes, can spring be far behind?’. So why not think there can be a positive impact on our lives and the economy after this crisis.

PS: remember that our most important weapon during times of panic and crisis is our mindset.

OUR PROJECTS

#inthistogether is the worldwide slogan that’s echoing in every corner. As the whole world is fighting together against one single enemy, it becomes a global responsibility for each of us to do our part. Muse Wearables being a tech startup incubated at IIT Madras, where we design, develop, and manufacture the world’s first payments enabled hybrid smartwatches, our in-house engineers have decided to contribute to the current situation through a two-prong approach “Prevention and Care” using innovation.

PREVENTION

  • Solving Supply chain and distribution of N95 masks across India using COVID essentials Maps.

  • Novel Methods for Antiviral nanocoatings on textiles to inactivate the virus and slow down the spread of the virus.

CARE

  • Design and development of low-cost portable ventilators for Covid-19 patients.

  • Remote Assessment and Monitoring of people using a wearable tracker and our Muse Health Platform for early detection of hypoxia.

Muse Antiviral Nanobots

While the lockdown is helping us in slowing down the spread of the virus, we also need to find alternative ways to slow down the virus transmission. One such possibility is not letting the virus survive long enough on surfaces and prevent our people from possible exposure to the virus. The aim of this project is to reduce the exposure to the virus from the very root of the problem. This project includes development and testing of an antiviral agent that works on COVID-19 and other corona viruses. The antiviral agent we are developing, once coated on the fabrics, will retain the antiviral agent on its surface as a coating and the textiles will have an inherent property to inactivate the human coronavirus.

Muse O2

As the number of cases is shockingly increasing day-by-day, we are facing a shortage of ventilators, as this pandemic has affected the global supply chain. While demand is increasing, the supply is being below average. Our primary goal is to meet this rising demand. To achieve this we are on the wheels to develop low-cost ventilators, suitable for the treatment of Covid19 patients. Our proposed design is a Robust Full-Fledged Ventilator, which is a portable, Bluetooth enabled, remotely controllable with all required modes of ventilation – Volume A/C, Pressure A/C, CPAP, PSV-ST, VSIMV, PSIMV.

Muse Covid19 Wearable Tracker

Detecting and tracking Covid19 has been one of the major problems many countries has been trying to solve. To eliminate this problem, we are developing a wrist-based Covid-19 tracker with a skin temperature sensor and SpO2 (Blood Oxygen saturation) sensor helps to continuously track body vitals remotely to help diagnose COVID-19 symptoms. The tracker is Bluetooth connectable to the mobile phone via our Muse Health App. This way we could identify more patients who have COVID symptoms sooner and treat them more effectively — and it would prioritise patients requiring a coronavirus test. The Muse Covid tracker also shows the containment zones in neighborhoods alerting the users the risk and the necessary precautions to keep them safe. The Muse trackers usage is not only limited to use in Covid scenarios but is also beneficial for use in proactive health care.

Muse KN95 Protection Mask

Our team at Muse Health is working round the clock to provide essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic. As most of the stores are running out of the basic Covid necessities, in order to bridge this gap, we are providing N95 masks to the general public through retailers, corporate centers and other business units. Along with these essentials we have also launched an Essential Maps on our Muse Health app, that shows the availability of masks and other essentials in stores in the neighborhood. This way we meet the requirements of our community and keep them safe.
